JAN 2016
-- ALL ASIA CUP NEW DATES
This year, The All Asia Cup is
not being organized by the same person who organized the 2012 and 2014 All
Asia Cups. This year, the maximum handicap per player is 3 goals (previously
it was 4 goals). This year, each team will be allocated 10 "patron horses"
and the remaining horses will be drawn from a hat. (Previously, all the
horses were pre-grouped, numbered with a
Horse Data Sheet, and each group of horses was drawn from a hat).
Information on the
previous 2014
All Asia Cup.
This year, we appear to have 8 teams again, but with the addition of a
Malaysian team instead of India. We do not yet know the grouping, and we do
not yet know the dates of play for the two groups. We guess that there will
be 2 groups again, and that the Subsidiary Finals and the Finals would be on
16 Jan 2016. All Asia Cup 2014 was the
largest Asian All National Tournament ever organized in the world. There
were 8 national teams on the field, and it was a thrilling event.
The exciting thing about the ALL ASIA CUP is that we are striving to show
that Asia is united in their commitment to polo with a view to having polo
included once again as an Olympic Sport. We saw this year that the Japan
Olympics were discussing inclusion for the Olympics in 2020, so we are
making progress. This is the vision. Any

ALL ASIA CUP UPDATES
Khun Lucas has confirmed that the following teams have said they will
participate in ALL ASIA CUP 2016 -- INDONESIA, KOREA, MONGOLIA, MALAYSIA, THAILAND, PHILIPPINES, CHINA, and BRUNEI. This is the first time
that Malaysia will be entering a team and our SPP friends Advocate Anil and
Syed Butriz will be commanding the charge. Indonesia is determined to defend
their victory from 2014, but Thailand coming off 2 straight Hi-Goal
victories in the British summer season is looking to take the title back
again. China was
hoping that the All Asia Cup would be broken down into a high and low goal
section, but their wish is not to be, as the All Asia Cup will remain a 2-4
goal event -- and just like the Olympics, the winner takes the cup. Mongolia
has promised to descend from the roaring steppes and wreak havoc on all
teams once again, but they are improving tremendously every year we see
them. JB's Korean team will feature JB at 1 goal, with James Lee, A Rock,
and David Ko at zero, but don't let that fool you, because this team has
been going from strength to strength all season including an expedition to
the Mongolian Steppe to learn some Ghengis Khan tactics. India has finished
in second place in the past 2 All Asia Cups, but have not confirmed they
will play this year's All Asia Cup. Brunei is coming with it's Big Gun and
is a thrilling team to watch on the field. Philippines is determined and
ready to try again. Unfortunately, Ronnie Lim's Singapore team has decided
not to come this year.
21-22 NOV 2015 -- ALL
STARS DOMINATE SPP CUP The All Stars in
Green were a Tour De Force in the Opening tournament at SPP this past
weekend. Khun Top and Khun Tal were suddenly dispatched to China and were
unable to assist the Power Team. Khun Anil teamed up with Lucas, Kukin and
Ploy and their awesome prowess on the field from day one set the tone for
the tournament. Khun Edward was determined to thwart the green team as he
went head to head with Khun Lucas, but it just was not enough. Power team
called in veteran player Eric Barthe for day two. Eric was back on the field
after his Purple Heart injury suffered in Korea in service to the Black Dog
team. He streaked towards goal in the opening minutes and scored a goal for
Power team and mounting a serious challenge in the final match. Nat and Bung
played very well and Tsu even joined the Power team with his recuperating
leg. At the final bell, the Underdogs lifted the Coconut for last place.
Power team was in second place by only one goal in a very exciting final
against All Stars, and when the dust settled, the All Stars lifted the SPP
CUP for 2015. Khun Anil was pleased with his teams victory as he has been practicing hard for his
Malaysian Team to tune his performance for the ALL ASIA CUP 2016. This will
be the first year that Malaysia has a team in the All Asia Cup. This year, 8
teams have confirmed and we are still waiting to hear from India. Khun
Ronnie's Singapore team has dropped out.

SIAM POLO PARK PATTAYA -- NOW 4 POLO CLUBS
UP AND RUNNING IN THAILAND The unbelievable news is that SPP PATTAYA
is up and
running again. SPP PATTAYA was the first polo field in Thailand. This is
where it all began before 2003, and after many years, it is now opening
again thanks to the generous support and patronage of Khun Vichai and King
Power. We were there on 20 Nov as Polo Manager Lucas and head gaucho
Santiago were schooling horses, and the scene was breathtaking. Khun Aor was
finishing the final touches on a beautiful refurbished clubhouse. The field
was shimmering green and the view from the clubhouse steps across to the
hills was spectacular. This is truly one of the most beautiful polo clubs in
the world. This year, the SPP PATTAYA club will be available for beginner
instruction and for some relaxed tournaments. There are 40 horses in the
stables and Khun Lucas has been given open hand by Khun Vichai to use the
club at his discretion for the benefit of our polo friends in Asia. Lucas
has confirmed that there will be no tournament at SPP PATTAYA on 27 and 28
November, but he will be organizing one soon. Come and see this magnificent
place. Organize a stick and ball session with Khun Aor at SPP PATTAYA --
aor@siampolonews.com
JAN OR FEB 2016 -- HONG
KONG CHALLENGE AT SIAM POLO PARK PATTAYA Dates are yet to be
confirmed, but Khun Lucas has said the Hong Kong Challenge would take place
at SPP PATTAYA. The challenge emanated from Torrey Dorsey at the Royal Hong
Kong Yacht Club that his nearly undefeated Hong Kong Team wanted to
challenge some Thailand polo teams to a match of virtue and honor in the
Kingdom. The line up would be 4 teams -- KING POWER, HONG KONG, BLACK DOG,
and POLO ESCAPE. The Venue would be SPP PATTAYA which many would agree is
the most beautiful polo club in Asia. The evening asado and entertainment
would be organized by Khun Robin and Kuppa. All we need is the date. STANDBY
for this exciting tournament in the making.
JAN 2016 -- BIRTHDAY CUP
AT SPP Anytime a new gaucho
is born, we organize a Birthday Cup. Khun Lucas has announced that he will
be bringing a new gaucho into the world in late January. This calls for a
spontaneous Birthday Cup to be attended by all and sundry in celebration. We
are not sure where the impending gaucho is at them moment -- perhaps in
Russia -- but to be sure, it will be an event not to miss.
16-20 FEB -- 10 TEAMS
LINING UP FOR AMBASSADOR CUP 2016 The competition
looks to be fierce this year for the coveted Ambassador Cup. The first team
to confirm for this year was EQUIPE L'OREAL from France that will be
under the command of Clement once again. KING POWER will be on the
field. This is the only tournament that Khun Top has never won, so he will
be as determined as ever. POLO ESCAPE would love to send a team with
their horses to compete in the Ambassador's Cup. Let's see if they will be
allowed to come. Mikee has confirmed that the GLOBAL PORT PHILIPPINES
team will be back for the Ambassador Cup. The THAI NATIONAL TEAM will
be there full force. Dato Budriz will bring his crack MALAYSIAN team
to compete. Khun Gusy will be coming from London with this stellar INDIAN
TEAM from Ahamadabad. If Brian Xu is on form, he will be bringing his
AXUS team to the Ambassador Cup. We haven't heard much from Beijing, but
it is possible that we may have a CHINA TANG POLO team. There are a
lot of rumors... Lucas says he has invited a RUSSIAN team. Previous
Crockfords victors Russell and Edward or Khun Anil may combine forces to
bring a team. The Pope's envoy himself, Nico Pepperoni, perhaps, he will
bring Paisano to round out a tenth team. In any event, you can see the
Ambassador Cup is looking to be a tournament to follow in 2016.
18-21
FEB 2016 -- ANNUAL GLOBAL PORT TOURNAMENT IN MANILA
Kuhn Mikee has announced that he will have the annual global port tournament
Feb 18-21 in manila PHILIPPINES. He has invited the King Power Jauggernaut
team to spice up the tournament and keep the momentum from last year's
success
NOV 2015 -- RUSSELL'S
YABBA DABBA DOO CHARGES AHEAD Khun Russell's Yabba
Dabba Doo polo team has been on the run behind enemy lines in
Argentina. Under the command of gaucho Antonino Menard from VR Polo in
Thailand and with lateral support from Arthur Fitswilliam from Hong Kong and
Mat Lodder who won both Queens Cup and Gold Cup on a team with Cambiaso 10
years ago, the team has weathered their first tournament. The next
tournament on the calender for YDD team will be the 12 goal at Puesto Viejo
and the team will be joined by VR gaucho Santiago Lujan. Stay tuned as we
bring you the blow by blow of this intrepid team from the depths of down
below.

NOV 2015 -- NIHIWATU WINS BEACH POLO SUMBA ISLAND
Indonesia
hosted the
BRITISH POLO DAY with a special display of indigenous equine talent on a
remote island East of Bali. The Sumbanese are excellent riders and the
Sumbanese pony is agile and strong. This was the first time that polo was
played on an international level on Indonesian Sumbanese ponies. The idea
was the brainchild of James McBride and Chris Burch from USA. Some of us
know James from the Elephant Polo field in Thailand. They have created the
beautiful Nihiwatu Resort on the island of Sumba --
www.nihi.com -- and polo is the perfect
venue to invite friends to see their creation. For more information email --

AUG 2015 -- POLO SEASON DATES SUBMITTED The go od news is
that Polo Escape has submitted their polo season proposed schedule to the TPA. It is normal procedure for Polo Associations around the world to help
with planning the polo schedule, so that there are no conflicting
tournaments. The TPA has asked Khun Robin to change a few of her dates, and
she has done this. We have also been given the polo dates for B.Grimm Thai
Polo by Khun Santi, so this should help everybody to work together to
participate and enjoy the sport of polo in Thailand. 2016 Thailand Polo Schedule (in progress).
EARLY
AUG 2015 -- ED AND RUSSELL LIFT TROPHY IN UK There is no pause
for SPP giants Edward Batchelor and Russell Tyre. They were on form in UK.
Russell and Ed teamed up with Sean Wilson , James Lucas, local Tidworth two
goalers. James, ex UK coach, was playing under Cormix banner, and the team
was seen as the underdogs. However, the VR stalwarts, were to have none of
that and simply won the final 6/5 in a nail-biting match. 3 goals from
Russell as he was on fire and honored to serve for long-standing teammate Ed
and support better concrete for the world.
10-13 MAR 2016 -- KING'S
CUP ELEPHANT POLO IS BACK AGAIN Tim Boda has
confirmed the dates for Elephant Polo this 2016. The event will be held in
Bangkok again, but at a different location from last year. The main purpose
for the change in dates was to avoid the rains. We have all learned by now,
that elephant polo and rain do not mix well, so this will be a very welcome
change. More details as we find out.
19 JUL 2015 -- KING POWER
VICTORIOUS IN BRITISH OPEN GOLD CUP 2015 is definitely
the Year of the Fox. King Power has taken the Triple Crown -- The King's Cup
in Thailand, The Queens Cup in England, and now the British Open Gold Cup.
Khun Top was on Top form. He punched two goals, did a front flip somersault
over, then under, his horse, and then crushed UAE in the final of the Jaeger-LeCoultre
Gold Cup at Cowdray Park on Sunday. It was not easy though. There was a
moment, when UAE was down by 2 goals, and Pablo MacDonough brought the ball
downfield for UAE and missed a goal. That would have brought the score to
only 1 goal difference, and perhaps changed the momentum of the game, but it
was not UAE's day, and King Power pressed the afterburner and powered to a
14-8 victory. It was an amazing run for the King Power Foxes in the English
season with a lot of lateral support from King Power Tal as well, so
congratulations to a very fine victory. Dato Link and the Thai Polo Club
team had a slow start, losing 4 games, but they pulled out a solid victory
against La Indiana in their final Gold Cup match to finish on a high note.
All around, the Gold Cup was a magnificent display for Thailand polo.
Congratulations to all.
JUL 2015 -- KHUN ROBIN IN
BRITISH WOMENS OPEN Khun Robin took all
her sticks to England to lend support to the King Power team and to compete
in the British Women's Open. Her team lost to the Apes Hill Team which then
went on to win the tournament, so she was very pleased with her team's
performance. Women's polo in UK is alive and kicking.
18-20 JUN 2015 -- GOLDIN METRO TIANJIN WINS BEACH POLO IN CHINA Three women's teams
and four men's teams took part in a very successful So! Dalian Beach Polo in
Dalian, China. The event takes place amidst an array of splendidly erected
facades of French, Swiss and English architecture in this very fast growing
part of Northern China. The Men's polo was riveted by the appearance of the
Metropolitan Goldin Polo team from Tianjin with local player Arthur Lim
drawing all the attention. Arthur and William showed the tremendous progress
of Chinese polo players and Goldin Polo Manager John Fisher dazzled the
spectators with shots from all corners. The Final between Air France and
Goldin Metro was a splendid match. Singaporean stalwarts Gerry Gan and Stijn
Welkers held off the Goldin Great Wall for as long as they could, but Goldin
won the day. In the women's division, it was Shangri-La with the powerful
twins Lu and Alice together with a stunning performance from Liana who
carried the trophy for the women's division. We saw a strong performance
from the USA women's team the Patriots, and the Tattinger Team in orange was
voted the best spirited team. The Beach Polo is held in the sands next to the marina and the
artificial Champs Elysees. This year's highlight was the splendid team
dinner at La Riviera Restaurant next to Shangri-La and the synchronized Bush
Diving by a quartette of inebriated polistas in the very early hours of the
morning. This year was such a success that we are sure we will hear from our
dear Heather Gu and Natalie

26 JUN 2015 -- ED STORY WINS
ELEPHANT POLO IN SURIN Just because the
King's Cup Elephant Polo was cancelled for 2015, that did not stop Ed Story
from assembling all guards for a pachydermian display in Surin. The event was
called the Elephant Story Invitational Elephant Polo Tournament. Four teams
participated in the event -- Citibank, ToleHouse Chameleons
(Simon Race, Katja, and Tom Fontaine from WEPA days), Sara Story Design,
and The Elephant Story (also known as "Rueang Chang"). A substantial
portion of the sponsorship fees are slated to be returned to projects in the
primary and secondary schools in Moo Baan Chang, which is home to 200
elephants and the mahout families. Ed has a native English speaker teaching
in that village and there are plans to expand the educational program in the
future. If you are an enthusiast of Elephant Polo, then don't miss --

24 JUN 2015 -- A CLASH OF
TITANS -- KING POWER DEFEATS THAI POLO The Jaeger-LeCoultre
Gold Cup is upon us, and the match that we have all been waiting for -- KING
POWER vs B.GRIMM THAI POLO will be at 3:00pm on 24 Jun 2015 at
Cowdray Park, England. The last time these two teams met was probably over
ten year ago on 26
February 2005 in the Mercedes Cup at Siam Polo Park. Khun Tal will be
leading the King Power charge into this warm friendly match between the two
local Thai Polo Clubs. King Power Tal, recently capturing the Cartier Trophy
at the Queens Cup, will be one of two King Power teams in the Gold Cup, so
if B.Grimm Thai Polo wins this match, they may well get the honor of playing
the King Power Top team as well. This is too exciting to bear, so stay tuned
and we will keep you posted.

KING POWER WINS CARTIER QUEENS CUP 2015 It was 7 chukkas
sudden death when Top backed to Facundo and score for 11-10 victory over
Dubai. Cambiaso was replaced by Pablo Macdonough and they were leading for
most of the match, but King Power seemed to want it more and captured their
first ever Cartier Queens Cup. In fact, it was a Double Victory for King
Power as earlier in the day, King Power Tal defeated Salkeld in a 7th chukka
sudden death with Khun Tal scoring the Golden Goal to capture the Cartier
Trophy, so both Cartier Cups were captured on the day to return to Thailand
for a year. The Queen was on hand to present the prizes to the teams and
Khun Tal was standing very close to her for the inclusive teams photo. A
glorious day for King Power Top and King Power Tal and Khun Vichai who was
over the moon on this "dream come true" day of days.

KING POWER VS DUBAI IN QUEENS CUP FINAL !!! Semi-Final Action
saw King Power Foxes, with Gonzalito and Facundo Pieres, narrowly defeated
Talandracas, with Polito Pieres and Guillermo Caset. And then Dubai, with
Adolfo Cambiaso defeated in extra chukker the UAE team, with Pablo Mac
Donough and Lucas Monteverde. What an unbelievable match with Cambiaso
injured at the end of the second chukka and replaced by Guillermo Caset, who
scored the golden goal that gave the victory to Dubai. It just doesn't get
more exciting than this, so the Final will be at 3pm Guards Polo Club. King
Power Foxes vying for the Queens Cup against Dubai with Cambiaso. Old
friends, yes, but remember Cambiaso took out King Power last year in the
Gold Cup final. But, last year, there were not two Pieres brothers on the
King Power team. This guarantees to be an exciting final. Watch it live --

6-7 JUN 2015 -- HONG KONG
DEFEATS KOREA IN JEJU Korea Polo Club has
been very busy in June. From 6-7 June, We saw the first "Hong Kong Challenge
Cup" in Jeju. The pioneering Hong Kong Team (2 goals) was composed of
Patrick Furlong 2, Jonathan Gabler 1, Russell Tyre 0, and Kwan Lo -1. They
were met full force by two Korean teams -- namely, KOREA BMW (3 goals) with
Tommy, David, James, Jerry and KOREA ROYAL SALUTE (2 goals) with Marlon, J.B.,
Y.J., and Tim. The Hong Kong team was strong from the start and better
organized than the Korean teams. The result was disaster for Korea, as Hong
Kong glided to victory in their first Korean competition. JB made a special
note that the Hong Kong player Jonathan had visited Korea many times and
knew the horses better than others, so he was awarded MVP of the match. In
the interest of fair play, Korean Polo Club allocated "Pro" horses by draw
and this was warmly welcomed by the Hong Kong team who were impressed by the
fair play and warm hospitality of Korea Polo Club.

ARGENTINA WINS NUSANTARA AMBASSADORS CUP There will be 30
Ambassadors at the Ambassador's Cup at Nusantara Polo Club this year. There
will be two 8 goal teams bringing a dazzling display of polo to the
Indonesian Archipelago. The China Gaucho, Miguel Diaz, will face off against
Nicolas Curto, but we will also see a special appearance from Prabowo. The
two teams will be Nusantara vs Garuda. There will be an Argentinean Asado
and Tango demonstration, but most important of all will be a special group
dancing of the Indonesian classic "Pocho-Pocho." Don't miss this event. Nusantara: Nico Curto, Novel Momongan, Acep Krisnandar, Billy Barsel

30 MAY 2015 --
KING POWER FOXES IN CARTIER QUEENS QUARTER FINALS The question
on everyone's mind -- Will the King Power meet The Queen ?? King Power Foxes
defeated HB Polo on Monday 13-8 at home field Billingbear Park, and if you
want to see a spectacular moment, look at Khun Top's Offside Tail pass
to Gonzalito Pieres for the 12th goal in the final chukka --
https://youtu.be/jbNM-dEsXeA. Now
King Power Foxes have secured a spot along with U.A.E. in the Quarter Finals.
The Saturday match was also a stunner -- King Power Foxes 15 vs. Dubai 11.
From PoloLine, "This was billed as the Clash of the Titans - Facundo Pieres
vs. Adolfo Cambiaso, but did not quite live up to the billing. King Power
were really together and Facundo’s reading of the match was superb. He
seemed to be everywhere, even sometimes taking players of the calibre of
Diego Cavanagh by surprise. Not everything went King Power’s way though.
Their patron, Top Srivaddhanaprabha had to retire following a heavy fall and
his place was taken by the young Kian Hall, who has been part of the King
Power set-up this season. Fortunately, he's got a slight injury and will be
ready to play next weekend. Despite some strong play from Dubai, especially
the young Englishman Tom Brodie, who worked tirelessly to keep the Pieres
boys out of the game, Rashid Albwardy's team failed to convert this good
play into enough goals. In the second half Dubai created too many technicals
after some "discussions" with the umpires, with the ball being moved to the
half-way line. This win makes King Power Foxes the first team to register
3-3 in the league stages of the tournament and they now automatically
qualify for next weekend's quarter-finals by finishing top of Group Two. The
only other teams in this tournament that can still win all three of their
league matches are Zacara and El Remanso and they play each other tomorrow.
So maybe Clash of the Titans Part II will take place at Guards Polo Club on
Sunday at 3pm." The
Queens Cup is being played as 4 Leagues of 3 Teams.

2015 -- DOUBLE KING POWER IN QUEEN'S CUP King Power is double
power this summer in the Cartier Queen's Cup. Khun Vichai has sent two
teams to capture the cup. One team is commanded by Khun Top (King Power
Foxes) and one team commanded by Khun Tal (King Power). Featured right
is our first time to see the King Power Foxes in action against Sifani.
The combination of Facundo and Gonzalito Pieres is lethal and a newly
minted 1 goal Top is good action to watch as King Power Foxes dominate
play to a 17-9 victory in their first match of the Queen's Cup. We will keep you posted as King Power powers their way
to the final.
13-14 JUN 2015 -- KOREAN
EXPEDITION TO CHINA & MONGOLIA Lot's of news from
JB in Korea. The Korean Team is celebrating their triple victory over Black
Dog and will be traveling to Shanghai to play against Nine Dragons Hill Polo
team. They are then taking a team to the Mongolian Steppe to compete with
the Mongolian team and partake of Chris Giercke's amazing hospitality in
Karokorum. JB has also announced plans to host the next Royal Salute Cup in
Korea on the beach. This is a new one. He is asking for government approval
now, but this should keep the Korean fans on their toes.
CIRCA 2011 -- GAUCHO MEETS
THE POPE The recent playing
of The Governors Cup in Jeju, Korea was an epic event. Not only did we see
the tremendous progress of the Korean Polo, as they fielded 3 Korean teams
in the tournament, but we also witnessed a Holy Occurrence. The Beleaguered
Black Dog Team was on the field, and they were inspired after losing their
Captain, Eric Barthe, in the early 2nd Chukka. They played on with only 3
members and scored 3 quick goals, nearly drawing equal with the Korean team,
but then it happened... a Holy Glow appeared around the chief gaucho of the
Korean team. No one had ever seen this before. There was a halo over his
helmet, and he carried the ball like an angel with his stick. His horse
levitated off the ground. Wherever he went and whatever he did, there was an
aura about him that prevented the Umpire from blowing his whistle. The
gaucho, Nicolas Pieroni, scored goal after goal, and turned the tide against
the Black Dog team, like Moses parting the Red Sea, the Holy Gaucho led his
Korean team to victory. The Black Dog team was in complete awe of this
Biblical Occurrence. And then the truth came out, the Holy Gaucho showed the
members of the Black Dog team the photo of him meeting the Pope in Rome a
few years previously, and thus the source of his providence. The Black Dog
team was truly humbled to have shared the field with the Holy Gaucho and
honored indeed to have suffered defeat at his Holy mallet.
8-9 MAY 2015 --
JEJU WINS KOREAN GOVERNORS CUP The 4th playing of
the Governor's Cup in Jeju, Korea was a success. There were 4 teams on the
field. 3 of the teams were from Korea. The Koreans have gone from strength to
strength this year having captured the two
tops spots in the Chinese New Year final in Thailand, and J.B. had carefully prepared three Korean teams to take on
a wildcard competitor Black Dog (known as "Gumun
Gae" in Korean). Each Korean team had a 4 goal Argentine Gaucho in
command (namely, the Bach-a-mann, the Pepperoni, and the Martinez). The
Black Dog team was be in raw form, without a professional, but with a secret weapon in their ranks -- the current President of the
Association of the Humble Gauchos, Eric Barthe. The Black Dog team got off
to a rough start, as their Captain, Eric Barthe, took a hard blow for the
team and had to dismount in the early second chukka. The Black Dog team was
given a choice, they could add a player and not win, or play on as only 3.
The choice was obvious, the team resumed as 3 to test their metal. Down by 3
goals, suddenly Black Dog was alive and scored 3 goals. It was a half goal
game, and Pepperoni was nervous. Pepperoni received help from all quarters
-- especially, his friend the Pope, and he was able to hold on to the end.
The next match saw the Bach-a-mann defeat Martinez, so the final would be
Jeju versus Korea. The final was a beautiful game to watch. David Ko showed
tremendous improvement and was awarded MVP. The black Jeju team lifted the
trophy high with His Excellency the Ambassador of Argentina and the Governor
of Jeju in attendance. It was a great tournament with excellent horses
distributed equally to the teams. Thank you JB for showing this highest
level of sportsmanship and congratulations to Korea for continued
improvement.
04-05 APR 2015 -- KUPPA CLAIMS EASTER CUP AT POLO ESCAPE
The Polo Escape Easter Cup had
3 teams on the field, and it was a very close event. On Day 1, Kuppa was
leading over Polo Escape, but was trailing behind Makaron. Marie and Will
were proving very strong up front for Polo Escape and Hormoz was a very
strong defender. Philippe was playing with passion on the Makaron team and
his wife Charlotte was lethal out in front. The gaucho Christian was sending
passes up and the combination was lethal. Also, the Makaron had by far the
most enthusiastic cheering section. On Day 2, Polo Escape was able to hold
Kuppa scorless and converted one goal to equalize. Kuppa was then able to
find their pace and held the Makaron team scoreless as they put 4 goals on
their tally. The final match between Polo Escape and Makaron would decide
the winner. Polo Escape up by 2 played a very strong game, and Makaron
narrowed the margin to a single goal. All the fans were on their feet when
the "Gallego" Jaime Miranda donned his helmet and rode onto the field. At
the final bell, Kuppa took the Cup and Khun Robin said she won her first
tournament of the season.

MAR 2015 -- HONG KONG WINS CHALLENGE CUP
The Hong Kong polo team
exploded onto the scene with a 7-6 victory over Singapore at the Singapore
Polo Club. The Hong Kong Polo Challenge Cup was a 2-day, 4-chukkas per day
(8 chukkas total) match with the
cumulative score of both days used to determine the overall winner. The team
line-ups remained the same
on both days. On Day 1, Hong Kong Polo Team 7 Singapore Polo Club 3 and on
Day 2 (only 1 chukka played)
Hong Kong Polo Team 0 Singapore Polo Club 3, so the AGGREGATE SCORE left
Hong Kong Polo Team 7 and Singapore Polo Club 6. The MVP was Patrick Furlong
(Hong Kong Polo Team) with 6 goals. Singapore player Juan Martin (Singapore
Polo Club) also scored 6 goals. The next stop for Hong Kong polo team will

AXUS WINS JAMES ASHTON TROPHY It was an Axus vs
Polo Escape match to honor the passing of our polo friend James Ashton.
Brian Xu was primed and ready and it was a very nice game to watch. Benoit
was visiting from Chantilly to support the Polo Escape team, and Alex and
Mel were on loan to Brian's "Hong Dwey" (Red team). Axus controlled the
match from the first with two quick points on the board. There were several
determined drives by the Polo Escape team, but Axus was just too strong on
defense. Axus added two more goals and took a commanding victory to the
podium to hoist the James Ashton Trophy aloft.
3-8 MAR 2015 -- LOS TAMA
TAO WINS THE "THRILLA IN MANILA" Khun Tal took a
fully loaded King Power polo team to Philippines for the Manilla Open,
accompanied by Khun Robin's Polo Escape Squadron and a Tang Polo Dynasty,
but they were up against 3 stalwart Philippine teams, and the Philippines
were able to hold on to their open. Play was held at Mikee's new field and
then at historic Manila Polo Club.
27-28 FEB -- AXUS WINS
PATRON'S CUP AT POLO ESCAPE A stunning victory
for Brian Xu against Polo Escape and then EFG. There were 15 Chinese polo
players on the sidelines on Friday to watch Axus in action and then on
Sunday, Brian pulled out all stops and showed just what a hi-goal Chinese
team is capable of. There were visiting professionals from Argentina,
Australia and India, and of course, the delicious Kuppa sandwiches and
brownies. There was even a sudden Black Dog aerobatic airshow on Friday that
was superbly captured by action polo photographer Hugh. The next polo event
at PE will be the James Ashton cup in March.
28 FEB-01 MAR -- CHINA
NEW YEAR AT VR
There are apparently 4
China teams on the field at VR for the Chinese New Year Cup. This shows the
tremendous passion and growth of polo in the Middle Kingdom. There is a
gaucho on each team. Stay tuned for the results to this exciting show of
force. Play will be on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday at VR Polo starting
4:30pm. It must have been an exciting match and one of the teams rode off to
victory in the year of the goat.

21 FEB -- TWO KOREAS IN
THE CHINESE NEW YEAR FINAL AT B.GRIMM
Khun Edward was playing
for Macau, when they were defeated at the bell by a Korea Bach-a-mann team
which set the stage for a 10am Final between Korea Paisano under command of
veteran gaucho Che Pieroni versus Korea Bach-a-mann. It was an exciting
event, with Korea Paisano left standing at the final bell. There were seven
teams entered in the Thai Polo CNY Cup, and the fact that two Korea teams
made it to the final shows the absolute commitment by Korea Polo Club
founder J.B.Lee and the host of passionate Koreans that have joined him in
his dream to grow the game on the island of Jeju in Korea. Congratulations
to Korea for this tremendous step forward on the the Asian polo scene.
THE BIG QUESTION -- WILL
THERE BE POLO IN MALAYSIA SEA GAMES 2017
This is the big
question... Malaysia is hosting the SEA Games in 2017. Malaysia is one of
the leading polo-playing countries in Southeast Asia, so will they be
including polo in their SEA Games venue for 2017. The first time polo was
included in the SEA Games was in 2007 in Thailand. Malaysia received the
Gold Medal in that event with the Bronze going to Thailand. If there is polo
in the SEA Games in 2017, will Thailand be ready to go for the gold. Is it
possible that Malaysia will send a team to the ALL ASIA CUP in 2016 in
preparation to the SEA Games... many many exciting questions. Let's see what
happens.
07-08 FEB 2015 -- PRINCE
JEFRI INVITES THAILAND'S PLOY TO
BRUNEI
It was a regal event in
Brunei over the weekend. "HIS Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of
Brunei Darussalam consented to take part in a two-day charity polo
tournament for Yayasan Children’s Cancer Foundation (YASKA) at the Royal
Brunei Polo and Riding Club in Jerudong," and Khun Ploy was there. She was a
member of Prince Jefri's Grey team. Prince Jefri and Princess Azemah were
recently in Thailand participating in the King's Cup with two different
Brunei teams. Prince Jefri's team made it to the finals, and Princess
Azemah's team dazzled the spectators. Princess Azemah was the only female
player in the Thailand King's Cup high-goal tournament. Khun Ploy graciously
accepted the offer to play in Brunei. There were 4 teams on the field, and
the winning team was the Black team led by His Majesty and comprised of Her
Royal Highness Princess ‘Azemah Ni’matul Bolkiah, YAM Pengiran Muda Bahar
and Argentinian Pablo Mac Donough --

MAR 2015 -- AMBASSADOR CUP CHANGED AGAIN The Ambassador Cup
is coming, but the dates keep changing. This is the third set of dates for
the Ambassador Cup. It appears now that the Ambassador
Cup will be held from 10-14 March 2015, but they could very well change
again... JB Lee, the owner of Korea Polo Club has had to pull out, because
the dates changed too many times. Edward is not sure if he can attend now,
because he had booked his pro and changed his dates, but now the dates have
changed. The umpires can't confirm what the dates are, so they have to
confirm for the Philippines Open. Polo Escape wanted to send two teams to
the Ambassador Cup, but now the dates conflict with their James Ashton
Trophy. Clement Toussaint, Commandant d'abord
de L’équipe L’Oreal Men Expert team has been informed of the new dates, but
L'Oreal Corporate HQ is getting confused with the changing dates, so we hope
he can still come. He has been planning this event
for over a year. Equipe L'Oreal is one of the most determined teams
to partake in the Ambassador Cup, and this year, Clement has confirmed that
if they come, they will
be bringing the famous L'Oreal "anti-fatigue" kit to share with everyone on
the competing teams. The L'Oreal team for this year was set as
follows -- Hugues Van Heesewijk, Julien Reynes, Clément Toussaint, Laurent
Doumergue. The Ambassador Cup is a very fun tournament usually set from 4-6
goals with teams across Asia and Europe combining professionals and
amateurs. If you want to join the Ambassador's Cup, perhaps you can get some
updates from Khun Aor --
aor@siampolonews.com -- The current teams lined up for this years
AMBASSADOR CUP 2015 are -- King Power // Tang Polo // Global Port //

year's champions Old Crocks, and King Power won the Ambassador Cup.

THE KING'S CUP 2015
19
JAN 2015 -- KING'S CUP STARTS TOMORROW AT VR Polo Club The King's Cup
starts tomorrow. It looks like it will be one of the most exciting
tournaments on the Thai Polo calendar this year. We are sorry that we only
found out the schedule and teams one day before the tournament, otherwise,
there are probably a lot of people who would have wanted to come to join
this incredible event -- but better late than never. Come join us at the
King's Cup 2015. This year, there will be 6 teams. The dates are set --
starting Tuesday. Polo on Tue, Wed, Thurs, Fri with a final on Saturday
under the lights. This year there will be a Malaysian team back on the field
at the King's Cup for the first time in many years. Brunei is extremely well
organized and was one of the first to submit the team rosters to share with
everyone. Brunei had a very strong showing in the 2014 All Asia Cup, so we
could see some very high level of polo from their two teams. Philippines is
primed and ready after their victory in the SPP Cup earlier this year. The
handicap level seems to have changed to 15-19 goals. Thailand has won every King's Cup ever played in the
Kingdom, so let's see who will win this year. We will keep you updated on
the scores and action at the King's Cup 2015. All matches will be at VR POLO
CLUB -- There are 2 fields (VR Field with lights and SP Field) at
the club.

DAY 1 -- 20 JAN 2015
5:30PM (VR Field) -- THAILAND
defeats CHINA -- 9 to 8.5
(group 1)
The first match of the King's Cup was previous 5 time champions Thailand
against China. China surged into the lead on handicap difference and
maintained the lead for most of the game. China's secret weapon was none
other than Miguel Diaz -- La Grand Muralla -- known to many as the
"Great Wall of China." The fans were not disappointed as the Great Wall
put the Thai team through its paces with stunning defense and crisp
passes to teammate Antonino. Top was recovering from jet lag accumulated
over numerous trips back and forth to UK, but he came on form with Khun
Tal in the final chukkas. It was a very technical match with Gonzalito
Pieres and Marcos Di Paola battling the Great Wall and trying to get the
ball downfield to the Top and Tal attack, but once Thailand captured the
lead, they had the mental advantage. China pulled out all tactics as
team Captain Shilai showed the true spirit of team sacrifice as he took
one for the team blocking the Thailand attack on goal with his right
shoulder blade. The ambulance rolled onto the field and he was remounted
for the game to continue. Thailand had held onto their lead at the final
bell.
6:30PM (VR Field) -- AHMIBAH
defeats MALAYSIA -- 9.5 to 6
(group 2)
What a match this was. Both teams exploded into action from the first
throw in. James Beh playing with his two sons Garvy and Joevy. Prince
Jefri and Amibah playing a very cool and collected match up front with
Prince Qawi. It was a wonderful game to watch with long open passes and
team play the length of the field. Malaysia was lethal on defense as all
team members made excellent long backhands to each other. Amibah
capitalized on the Ale-Pancho connection to turn the ball and send it
forward. Prince Jefri took one ball along the back line amidst a melee
of players and drilled a neck shot through the posts to set the tempo
for the game. It was a very close game with teams scoring at both ends,
then the crowd was stunned as Amibah turned to attack, Ale took the
Malay player and Prince Qawi surged forward and carried the ball towards
goal. He then followed up with a brilliant goal and sent the crowd into
a frenzy of excitement. This goal turned the momentum of the game in
Amibah's favor and earned Prince Qawi the commentator's
"Man-Of-The-Match" award. This was a match that showed the grace and
beauty of the sport of polo and it was a pure pleasure to watch. James
Beh showed great bravery after suffering a back spasm. The ambulance
again took to the field with Trainer Nick on hand. James showed what
polo players are made of and jumped back on his horse to resume play.
Congratulations to both teams for a match played in the spirit of the
King's Cup.

21 JAN 2015
4:00PM (SP Field) -- PHILIPPINES
defeats MALAYSIA -- 9.5 to 8
(group 2)
Mikee Romero's goal in the first chukka set the pace for Philippines in a
very close match against Malaysia. Joevy and Garvy Beh were on fire with
passing between the two brothers up to their father and Nachi Heguy.
Philippines replied every time with a goal in return. The match went back
and forth with both teams exchanging the lead by a half goal. Philippines'
Benjamin Urquiza led the time in a determined drive in the 5th chukka to
give the team a 1 and a half goal cushion which they were able to hold onto
at the final bell.
5:30PM (VR Field) -- THAILAND
defeats BRUNEI -- 11 to 9.5
(group 1)
This match was a nail biter from the start. Played on the large VR field
under the lights, the match was end to end play with long passes from Marcos
Di Paola up to Khun Top and Khun Tal. Gonzalito Pieres and Pablo Mac Donough
were in a constant battle for position with each other. Brunei's Prince
Bahar had several runs down field with passes from Joaquin and Pablo, but
all eyes were on Princess Azemah as she had no less that 6 runs on goal
which were narrowly rescued by Thai backhands. Andrew Hine was on hand to
coach Princess Azemah between chukkas and her final drive to goal was only
saved by Khun Top by what seemed like inches from the sidelines. Brunei and
Thailand exchanged leads by a half goal almost a ten times over the 5
chukkas, then Khun Top captured and excellent opportunity on the throw in
and was able to send a neck shot down field that he then followed and
carried all the way to goal to complete his hat trick and give Thailand a 1
and a half goal advantage that secured their victory. Both teams were
cheered as they left the field for a tremendous match that symbolized the
spirit of the King's Cup. Khun Top was the commentator's Man-Of-The-Match
for his critical hat trick and securing the Thailand victory in the final
chukka. Pablo Mac Donough was a visiting 10 goal player who stopped by
for the match on his way to Dubai. Pablo used to play with Prince Bahar
before, and was helping out for the match, temporarily taking the team up to
18 goals.

DAY 3 -- 22 JAN 2015
4:00PM (SP Field) -- CHINA
defeats BRUNEI
-- 10 to 8
(group 1)
The spectators were on the edge of their seats from the very first. Princess
Azemah received a pass and carried the ball down field and drilled it
between the goal posts. It was a magnificent goal. And then, she did it
again. Brunei was off and rolling with an early lead. It was a very exciting
match. China soon came back and answered. Shilai decided to cover the
Princess more tightly. Originally the match was to be reduced to 4 chukka by
consent of the two teams due to shortness of time, but at the end of the 4th
chukka, the score was tied and the command was given -- there would be a 5th
chukka. The suspense continued and China came ahead by a goal as La Gran
Muralla came onto form for China with Temi and Antonino turning the ball
back effectively. Prince Bahar played a tremendous match on both defense and
offense, but China came up again with another goal to secure a victory at
the final bell. It was Princess Azemah who received the commentator's
"Princess-Of-The-Match" award for her inspired play and two
brilliant goals that set the tone for the match.
5:30PM (VR Field) -- AHMIBAH
defeats PHILIPPINES
-- 5.5 to 5
(group 2)
The matches continue, and the scores remain closer and closer. This one went
down to the wire. Amibah was off to an early 3 and a half goal lead in the
match, and it looked like they would dominate the match, but then
Philippines turned the tide and started a solid and determined come back.
Anthony Garcia was lethal up front. We normally don't see him up front, but
there he was with Mikee Romero carrying the ball and shooting on goal.
Manuel Crespo coming up with the ball again and again to send it back down
field, but each time, the Amibah team turned it around. Philippines held a
half goal lead in the 5th chukka, then Amibah scored an all-important goal
and played on as the final two minutes ticked away with everyone on the edge
of their seat. At the final bell, Amibah had won through and were headed to
the final. A great game and salute to both teams. Amibah's Pancho at #4 was
the commentator's Man-Of-The-Match for keeping the pressure on and keeping
Amibah on attack at the critical moment.
DAY 3
Brunei Team (Princes Azemah,
Prince Bahar, Joaco, Nacho) -- The Men in Black & Grey -- "Humble Gauchos" Gonzalo y
Gonzalito Pieres
DAY 4 -- 23 JAN 2015
4:00PM (SP Field) -- BRUNEI
defeats MALAYSIA -- 8.5 to 8 for 5th PLACE
It was an exciting start to
the penultimate day as Brunei took the lead by 3 and a half goals only to
have Malaysia take it all back and go into the lead. Then back and forth the
two teams went with a very exciting game. James Beh had a brilliant run down
the field to the right, then a perfect neck shot to goal. We all watched him
follow the ball to the mouth of the goal, and it was one of those moments
where you are looking at the ball and the fast approaching goal post at the
same time... James pulled left and left the goal post standing, and was
pleased to see the ball had enough momentum to make it over the line. A
brilliant goal. Brunei had a penalty shot on goal in the final minutes of
play. Joaco took it, and it was the most careful slow-motion gentle accurate
shot you ever saw, and it made it between the posts to put Brunei ahead. The
seconds were ticking away, and at the final bell, Brunei had the game by
half a goal. The commentator's Man-Of-The-Match went to James Beh for his
fearless charge down field and a beautiful goal. James is almost 60, but he
plays with his heart and soul. It was great to have him and his sons on the
field for the King's Cup... with Nachi too, of course.
5:30PM (VR Field) -- CHINA
defeats PHILIPPINES -- 10 to 9 for The Bronze (3rd PLACE)
China wanted this one. So did Philippines. But they got off to a slow start.
One of the fans on the sidelines commented, "what is this, friendly
chukkas?" and the teams must have heard him, because the velocity picked up.
Gonzalito and Gonzalo Pieres were sitting next to this fan and commented
that it would be nice to have a tie and send the match to extra chukkas, but
the China team was not going to have any of that. Philippines took the lead.
The pace quickened still. Then Miguel Diaz -- the Woodward Rib-cracker, himself
-- kicked
into action. Miguel was everywhere. Defense and Offense, en todos lados...
and when the dust had settled, China had captured the Bronze Third place by
a single goal. The fans were pleased with the exciting finish, and everyone
celebrated with "Chip kap Dip" on the side of the field. Miguel Diaz was
awarded the commentator's Man-Of-The-Match award for his grace under
pressure and his sleek slender appearance. The final stands tomorrow.
DAY 4
Princes Azemah brings the ball
down field for Brunei. She scored 2 brilliant goals in the King's Cup 2015.
DAY 5 -- 24 JAN 2015
5:30PM -- KING'S CUP FINAL -- THAILAND
defeats AMIBAH -- 13-12 to win King's Cup 2015
Everyone knew it was going
to be an exciting final, but it was a match better than we had hoped for.
Amibah started with 4 goals on the board for the 6 chukka final due to
handicap. Thailand fought hard to overcome the handicap difference, and then
Amibah reclaimed the lead. The two teams then tied at 7, then tied at 8.
Amibah surged into the lead by 2 points, and then Thailand came back... and
in the final chukka, Thailand got the all important one goal lead with about
2 minutes remaining, and Amibah with 2 valiant efforts was not able to get
teh all important goal. Great tournament. Thank you all for coming. Thailand
has won another King's Cup.

GOALS IN THAI OPEN Khun Edward was
glowing with pride as he reported his brilliant performance in the recently
held Thai Open. Khun Ed reports that there were 4 teams in the tournament --
with 2 made up locally and 2 from afar. Ed played two matches on the local
BMW team. On one of Ed's goals, he called for a pass from veteran gaucho "Che"
Pieroni and the pass landed right in front of him, he composed himself and
drilled the ball through the goal posts. His second goal came after he was
dethroned by a 7 goal player and dismounted in spectacular fashion at high
speed with hooves and horses all around him. Ed remounted and proceeded to
score another brilliant goal. Ed now is a firm believer in stretching
frequently to prepare for the polo pitch. Ed sharing his story with polo

so the Silver Cup was a combined ladies men event with combined teams
battling it out on the field. Khun Ploy had an especially strong team with
VR polo manager Lucas in attendance. On the final day, the King Power team
had won through and captured the cup.

DEC 2014 -- THAI POLO DEFEATS SPP IN BOXING CHICKEN THRILLER The China Gaucho
Miguel Diaz is back in Thailand, and his first official action was to
present the Chicken Trophy to the winning team in the Boxing Chicken Cup.
This is another new tournament in Thailand, and it was a very exciting
event. Khun Edward captained the orange Thai Polo team onto the field. Ed
told his team to pass and play hard on defense. The SPP team was rattled
from the first chukka. SPP chief gaucho Santy Galland tried to unite his
team of Diego, Ploy and Tsu, but the Thai polo pressure was too intense. The
match ended with Thai Polo defeating the blue SPP team 5-1. The gaucho Santy
Galland loves to have his photo taken, and then posed for the camera at
1,500' at the controls of a Stolp Starduster. We are waiting for some
updates on the King's Cup, and we will share them with you as soon as we
can.
14 DEC 2014 -- LEICESTER CITY
vs BLACK DOG IN LA COPA DE LA ASOSIACION The
full force of the Leicester City Foxes came to bear upon the Black Dogs this
past Sunday in the first 2014 playing of the ASSOCIATION CUP. These two
experienced teams were competing for the coveted "CABALLO D'ORO" the
flagship trophy of La Asociacion de Los Gauchos Timidos. Leicester
City has to win 8 more games to stay in the Premier League. The upper
echelons of command decided that some action had to be taken to keep the
team's momentum, so the Black Dog team was ordered to the field. The Black
Dog team is the arch enemy of the Thai National Team and, indeed, the
Leicester City Foxes, and this was just what the situation called for. Khun
Tal, the current President of "La Asociacion" took command position on the
Black Dog team to strike the fear of God into the Leicester City team. His
tactics worked impeccably as he led the Black Dog team as a scoring
juggernaut with 5 goals over 5 chukkas. Veteran Black Dog, Eric Barthe, was
embedded behind enemy lines on the Foxes team to observe from within. The
match was violent in every respect, and when the dust settled, Black Dog had
captured the "Golden Horse" Association Cup victory with a score of 9-7.
Khiun No was ecstatic with his performance. Khun Edward, Khun Max and Khun
Anil had experienced first hand the ferociousness of life on the front lines
in the Premier League. Khun Ploy has performed brilliantly for her team
causing severe pain and suffering to Khun No, but it was not enough. Thai
Supermodel and now polo player, Khun Sonia, was on hand to present the "Caballo
d'Oro" to the Black Dog team. The match was followed by a hornito asado on
the field with Khun Ploy showing her skill at marinating steaks with salad
dressing. There was then held a meeting of La Asociacion de Los Gauchos
Timidos, and by unanimous decision the Presidency of The Association was
handed back to Eric Barthe for the forthcoming year. Eric Barthe has
fostered more Thai horses than any other gaucho in the history of the game,
and with the arrival of Khun Tanya, the guachos realized that Khun Eric was
fully capable of assuming command of the Association. Khun No accepted the
position of Vice President of the association. He is still very shy, but he
feels that with continued practice, he will one day be able to follow in
Khun Eric's footsteps and lead the Association.

DEC 2014 -- BELLE & ANCHALIKA JOIN QUEEN'S CUP Beginner players
Khun Belle and Khun A have been experience the thrill of fast action polo at
the B.Grimm Polo environ in support of the St. Regis Ladies Polo Team. Khun
Belle recounts that the action is so fast, she can barely keep track of the
ball, but it has been a fantastic experience for her and fellow teammate
Khun Anchalika. After the first day of polo, Belle reported her team's one
goal lead in the round robin competition. However, she added, the action was
not over yet, and anything could happen.
13 DEC 2014 -- 4 TEAMS IN
KING'S CUP The King's Cup now
has 4 teams from 4 countries confirmed to compete from 19-24 Jan 2015.
The horses will be allocated to each team with respect to the team patrons
having the most preferable mounts. We are all looking forward to the action
-- Thailand, Brunei, Philippines and China will compete for the honored
King's Cup 2015.
07 DEC 2014 -- KING POWER WINS COMMANDERS CUP The first time ever
in the history of polo, THE COMMANDERS CUP was held in Thailand. Khun Aor
showed the sleek golden artillery piece to Khun Tal before the game, and he
was impressed. The two teems assembled on the field. Khun Anil had traveled
from Malaysia to participate in this most honored of matches. He was
accompanying Edward and gauchos Santy and Lucas on the Green Team. Khun Tal
assembled his team carefully with Thai veterans Khun Nat at back and the
attackers No and Tom up front. The match was fierce and was tied at 2 each
after the second chukka. However, the King Power team under Tal's fearless
command surged forward in the third chukka with a 3 point lead and were able
to hold onto their lead throughout the 4th chukka. Kukin was a stalwart
umpire not to be intimidated or coerced by anyone. There was a determined
counterattack by the Green team in the 4th chukka, but Khun Tal was
relentless in his defense stealing the ball from Lucas and carrying it
across the field two times to consume the precious time off the clock. At
the final bell, the Blue Team was left standing with the Commanders Cup in
hand. The Artillery shell was presented by Khun Nick who is Top and Tal's
personal trainer from UK. Khun Nick enjoyed a steak with the gauchos after
the game, and he is determined to work on Top and Tal and get some gym
equipment back in the Polo Gym at VRSC which is now empty. The entire Thai
Polo Team is supporting Nick in this valiant cause, so they can stay fit and
ready for the ALL ASIA CUP 2016.

DEC 2014 -- JESSICA INVITES SANTI TO HER BIRTHDAY PARTY For those of you who
follow the polo action in Thailand, you will know that the gaucho Santi has
named his guitar "Jessica" after one of Thailand's enthusiastic young female
polo players. We may have to plan a "Jessica Cup" at some point, because
Jessica has invited the gauchos and several distinguished guests to attend
her birthday party this month. We will be on hand to cover all the action
live and bring it to you.
30 NOV 2014 -- NEW DATES
FOR KING'S CUP It wouldn't be a
King's Cup if we didn't move the dates around just a little bit. Now the
King's Cup will be held from 19-24 Jan 2015. We still have 4 nations
and 6 teams, but the HOT NEWS is this -- KING POWER will be entering 2 teams
into next years High Goal English season -- The Queens Cup and The Gold Cup.
Not only that, Khun Top will command one team, and Khun Tal will command the
other. We do not yet know the official names of "King Power Top" and "King
Power Tal", but rest assured, the action will be relentless. Maybe, we will
even see a match between King Power and Thai Polo live in UK. The King's Cup
this year may be a training run for the English Hi-Goal action to come.
Whatever happens, you know it will be exciting. Stay tuned.
22-23 NOV 2014 -- GLOBAL
PORT WINS SPP CUP SEASON OPENER Khun Mikee won
through to absolute victory in the SPP season opener at VRSC. There were a
host of new players on the field. Captain Gerry Gan and Styn are now freshly
minted 1 goal players from Singapore Polo Club, and they were excited to
show their skills to the fans. We also had players from Brunei, Malaysia and
Hong Kong. Mikee was the most prepared with his Powerhouse from Philippines,
and the action was riveting. We will share the final teams and the action
when we get them.

NOV 2014 -- NEW BEGINNERS IN BLUE AND GREEN
The field was resplendent with many new Thai players this past Saturday.
Khun Julesak has been recruiting heavily amidst his Bangkok constituency and
we were all treated to 2 chukkas of enthusiastic play between Green and
Blue. The Green Team consisted of - Belle, Knotty, RJ Doyle, Mike Welch
and His Excellency Ambassador Domedej Bunnag, and they were up against
the Blue team - Yong (lead singer of popular music band Armchair),
Anchalika Kijkanakorn, Bote Jaroonsmith and Jules. Blue won through in
the end with a scintillating score of 2-1. Last year, SPP gave 1,200 polo
lessons, and from the looks of it now, this year, we could well reach 2,000
lessons. Many new Thai and International players have booked lessons and the
enthusiasm seems to be on the rise. This past weekend, the beginners showed
a good knowledge of the game and showed a lot of improvement on their
riding. They then watched club chukkas and partook of the "Hornito Asado" as
the sun set. The level of interest has been so strong, that now Polo Manager
Lucas has set up a Beginners Polo Day on Friday every week. Friday
will be reserved exclusively for beginners to play chukkas and improve their
skills.

year's King's Cup. As we hear more details, we will let you know.
01-02 NOV 2014 -- POLO
FEATURES FOR THE FIRST TIME IN KOREAN NATIONAL SPORTS FESTIVAL This was exciting
news on Jeju island off the Southern tip of Korea, Korean polo took a giant
leap forward and the sport was designated as an Exhibition sport in the 95th
Korean National Sports Festival. There were 4 teams on the field -- Seoul,
Gyunggi, Jeju, and Overseas Singapore. These teams competed valiantly with a
host of ladies on the field. The exciting conclusion saw Seoul defeat
Overseas Singapore 4-3 in the final to capture the Gold. The Korean team has
been improving steadily and we hope we will see them on the field this
season in Thailand.

NOV 2014 -- OFFICIAL LAUNCH OF HONG KONG POLO TEAM Our friend Torrey
has shared the exciting news that Hong Kong is finally getting serious
about polo and will be launching their own team into the Asian polo
scene. November will see their fledgling team at the B.Grimm Thai Polo
Club with an official launch of the HK Polo Team at Boujis (Hong
Kong) on 5 December. The ultimate goal is to have a proper polo club in
Hong Kong, but then again, Rome wasn't build in a day... for more info

approximately. When they confirm all the details, we will let you know.
20-21 SEP 2014 -- CHINA WINS CHINA OPEN AGAIN The ground thundered
again up Tang Polo Club with 4 teams competing this year. Brian Xu took his
team to Beijing to compete in this prestigious event. This year, Thailand
did not send a team to the Open. We saw them in a very close final in the
previous China Open, but the Thai Gaucho Miguel Diaz was on the field for
the Royal Salute China Team which has won the China Open every year so far.
This year was no different, and Team China wins their 4th or 5th China Open
in a row. Mikee Romero took his very strong team to compete in this event,
but it was no match for the Tang Dynasty which continues to rule the China
Open.

AUG 2014 -- KING POWER WINS KING'S CUP ELEPHANT POLO It was perhaps the
worst King's Cup Elephant Polo we have ever had. The rain was torrential,
and the field was a swamp. Games were cancelled; penalty shootouts were
endless. The high heels sunk deep into the mud, yet the spirits were
indomitable.16 teams from all over the world were determined to have fun, so
the party went on in the tents, led by Hong Kong's vivacious Louis Roederer
team. The final day saw PWC All Blacks, The Peninsula, Audemars-Piguet, and
King Power into the semi-finals. The Final came down to a penalty shootout
between King Power and Powerhouse Audemars-Piguet. It was a very nailbiting
shootout with Angad Kalaan missing a shot in the first round, then Khun Bung
missing. The second round, Khun Nat hit the post. Uday Kalaan pulled right,
Marc Williams topped it. All breaths were held as Khun Bung drove the final
ball through for King Power and King Power captured its second Kings Cup
Victory. This year
NBC Nightly News captured the action, and the total amount raised
for Thailand's Elephants now exceeds US$1 million raised through Elephant
Polo. PRACTICE DAY - WEDNESDAY 27TH AUGUST HANDICAPPING / SEEDINGS (FINAL) - TRADER VICS, ANANTARA RIVERSIDE

20 JUL 2014 -- DUBAI TAKES KING POWER IN GOLD CUP FINAL It was a nail-biter
match all the way, with King Power's first British Gold Cup appearance with
Top on the team. King Power had won all 5 straight to take them into the
final against Dubai --
Highlights from Dubai and King Power semi-finals. Top scored 6 goals in
the third King Power match against Enigma 13-9 (Guillermo Caset and
Guillermo Willington playing for Enigma). Top was named "Man of the Match"
and the fans went wild. Gonzalo Pieres and Marcos Di Paola were playing for
King Power. This Final match with Dubai was certainly the event of the
summer. Cambiaso won the Argentine Open for King Power in 2002 and has
played for King Power in several King's Cups. However, this was the first
time that King Power played against Cambiaso as he led long-time friends
Dubai against the King Power team. Cambiaso showed superior tactics on the
field and was able to draw penalties from the King Power team to tip the
balance in Dubai's favor. It was a tremendous match, and we are sure that
King Power will be back again. THE GOLD CUP ACTION on 20 JULY 2014

JUL 2014 -- TANG POLO WINS FIRST BEACH POLO IN CHINA The time had come.
China pulled out all stops and launched the first ever World Beach Polo in
Dalian, Northern China during the first weekend in July. International
players arrived from all over the world, and entertained the fans to a
tantalizing display of beach polo on the edge of a brand new marina
ensconced by the beautiful features of a Parisian city in the making. The
two women's teams took the field first with ladies from Russia, Kazakhstan,
USA, Thailand, and England. The Shangri-La team produced a solid victory and
celebrated long into the night. The following day, 4 men's teams stepped up
the pace with experienced players joining the rising ranks of China's new
polo fraternity. Norman Peng exploded onto the sand pitch for Tang Polo
causing all manner of lady spectators to lose their breath. There were
spectacular aerial ball aerobatics from Lindo the Argentine, and the matches
were breathtaking. As the dust settled, it was Tang Polo and advanced to
meet Arnold & Son in the Saturday Final. From July 3-6, 2014, an
all-encompassing event will visit the shores of Dalian, one that is set to
become a reference for both the marine lifestyle and the king of sports!
Since teaming up with the world-renowned experts from The Polo Life,
creators of the Miami Beach Polo tournament and SoDalian will bring Beach
Polo to the shores of Dalian for the first time ever. In order to offer
visitors an amazing combination of polo as well as yachting lifestyle
experiences, there will also be a large-scale yacht display near the
tournament. By offering Beach Polo and a wide range of sea-related
activities, this four-day event is dedicated to boost Dalian as a boating
destination, an attractive costal city located on a strategic location, as
well as to boost the yachting industry in the entire region --
